Researcher in Australian foreign policy in Asia and Australia's regional identity. Interested in how conceptions of Australian identity have influenced Australia-Asia relations historically, and Australia's adaptability to regional geopolitical dynamism as China's power and influence grows.
Assisting Emeritus Professor Joseph Camilleri of La Trobe University, and the planning committee for the Earth@Peace project, my role comprises communications and marketing tasks aimed at driving awareness and participation in the international, interdisciplinary 2019 conference (and associated events spanning a 12-month period) developing a dialogue in Australia on a "just and ecologically sustainable peace."
I am a member of the organising committee for the 2018 Comparative Communication Study International Symposium, to be held at Deakin's Burwood Campus 1-3 October. Alongside colleagues in the School of Communications and Creative Arts, I am responsible for liaising with symposium presenters and panel chairs, and for design of the schedule guide booklet for the event. Approximately 50% of the delegates are from Chinese institutions, and I am a liaison for the visiting scholars during their stay.

Under the direction of Alfred Deakin Professor Baogang He, Chair of International Relations at Deakin University, I am assisting with a project undertaking a cultural and political assessment of the territories linking China to Eurasia via the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). My initial research exploration is focused on the existing and emerging literature discussing China's new empire building.

The Deakin Asia-Pacific Research Network (DAPRN) is the central point for Asia-Pacific expertise at Deakin University. I am responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the network's website. Using the Wordpress platform, the DAPRN website exists to connect visitors with participating scholars, to highlight the research projects being undertaken, and to inform about events and publications relevant to the discipline.
Working within the School of Communication and Creative Arts at Deakin's Burwood campus in Melbourne, I am examining Australia-China cyber relations. In the initial phase of this project, my research focus is on Australian cyber strategy and international engagement, cyber security posture and policy, internet governance in Australia, and the securitisation of the internet, particularly through an international relations lens.
During Semester 2, 2018, I am a Residential College Academic Tutor at the University of Melbourne's Trinity College. My role involves providing supplementary tutorials in the subject Modern Southeast Asia, a history/sociology unit that examines the social, cultural, political and economic forces that have shaped the region. During weekly tutorials, I assist the students in understanding subject material, clarifying important concepts, and broadening their perspective on the unit content.
During Trimester 2, 2018, I am assisting Professor Baogang He, Chair of International Relations at Deakin University, to deliver the unit China & The World (Unit code: AIR701). My teaching assistant role encompasses fielding student inquiries regarding the unit content and assessments, facilitating and moderating online discussions in Deakin's cloud environment, and marking all student assessments for
the unit.

I am responsible for editing English language contributions to Studia Islamika, an international, peer-reviewed academic journal based in Jakarta, Indonesia. The journal is produced by the Center for the Study of Islam and Society (PPIM), an autonomous research institute at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Studia Islamika specialises in Indonesian and Southeast Asian Islamic studies and is published in Indonesian, Arabic and English. My role involves assisting the author/s in improving the written expression and grammar in the English language translations of their research articles.

I was responsible for coordinating a team of six interns (including myself) to prepare and execute the 14th annual International Careers Conference for the Australian Institute of International Affairs Victoria, to be held in August 2018 at The Pavilion (Melbourne Arts Centre). The one-day conference draws approximately 200 delegates to attend panel discussions and workshops designed to explore options for careers in international affairs in government, academia, NGOs and business. My role included researching and coordinating panel speakers and workshop facilitators, event design and management, social media marketing, conference booklet design, writing and publishing, and assisting with the administration and execution of the conference in August.
